About Wealtheon
Wealtheon is the result of two generations of experience gained in the asset management sector. As a family business, we offer a balanced alternative in a world that is constantly on the move. We also strive to forge a long-term, stable relationship of trust with our clients. Our commitment and our independent, transparent way of working form the foundation for this. In our view, asset management has to be objective, personal and understandable for all of the parties concerned.
Our values
- Independence
- No external financial links
- An unlisted family company
- Total freedom of choice
- Aligned interests between the client and the asset manager
- Transparency
- Clear, flexible investment policy
- Clear cost structure
- Parallel interests
Our history
Wealtheon has its roots in General Investment Management (GIM), a company founded in 1971 by Peter Zwart. Prior to that time, investing primarily consisted of long-term holdings of equities or bonds in large companies that paid dividends or coupons.
From experience, we know that this philosophy can result in significant losses. GIM therefore decided to take a different approach, actively anticipating and taking advantage of any expected economic developments that might have an impact on profits and equity prices, to achieve an average result that outperformed the market.
As an independent asset manager, GIM had no ownership links with any banking institutions. GIM invested in companies listed on the stock exchange while always ensuring that the interests of clients ran in parallel with the interests of the asset manager. With assets in excess of 5 billion euro, GIM grew to become one of the largest independent asset managers in the Benelux.
In 1999, GIM was sold to an Anglo-Dutch private bank. Following the end of the five-year non-competition period, in 2005 Peter Zwart and his son Victor set up a new independent asset management company: Wealtheon. In line with the philosophy adopted since 1971, the focus of the investment strategy is on « growth » stocks.
In 2020 Wealtheon saw the opportunity to expand its services with the acquisition of Torrebos Consult SA. Managing director Naard Broeckaert has joined as shareholder and member of the board of directors at Wealtheon. The acquisition allows Wealtheon to offer an investment strategy focused on « value » stocks. This strategy is complementary to the growth strategy and is often combined for larger portfolios with a broad asset mix.
Today, the group is active in Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
Wealtheon’s philosophy is an extension of what set GIM apart: a flexible, consistent investment policy that focuses on protecting assets while achieving attractive results, as well as clear communication and personal service. These aspects are still of fundamental importance to Wealtheon today.
Our investment experts manage portfolios on a daily basis, relieving clients of administrative chores. The Wealtheon investment committee constantly adjusts our investment selections to meet current and expected market developments, while keeping a close eye on any attendant risk. Protecting and growing the assets entrusted to our care are central to everything we do.
Our clients are the most valuable part of our organisation. Their interests are our interests. That is why we combine our experience and expertise with transparency and strong commitment. We know from experience that this approach, together with attractive investment results, is crucial for lasting, productive relationships. You will find this approach in all of our services.
Corporate Responsibility
For us, corporate social responsibility is a natural part of the way we do business. Wealtheon contributes to the improved welfare of people through the Wealtheon Foundation, an independent organisation that directly invests funds contributed by Wealtheon and other donors in a number of carefully selected good causes and projects. In this way, we invest effectively in a better world.
